Celebrating Membrane Day 2025
The 14th of April was established as Membrane Day by the European Membrane Society (EMS) in honor of Prof. Enrico Drioli, a pioneer whose work laid the foundations for modern membrane science. One of our co-founders Fausto Gallucci completed his PhD at the University of Calabria and had the pleasure to be supervised by and collaborate with Professor Drioli.
To mark this occasion Modelta organized a series of engaging membrane-related events aimed at promoting membrane innovation, awareness and community building.
7th of April – Lecture at Eindhoven University of Technology
In the week leading up to Membrane Day Michele Ongis delivered an interactive lecture on the history of membrane technology and modern membrane modelling for the Sustainable Process Engineering group at Eindhoven University of Technology.
The session was concluded by a lively group activity including drinks and a membrane-related quiz, offering participants a fun way to test their knowledge and spark discussion on membrane applications.
14th of April – Membrane Day Talk at Politecnico di Milano
On Membrane Day itself, we gave another insightful talk to the Group of Energy Conversion Systems at Politecnico di Milano. The talk highlighted the importance of the day, celebrated the legacy of Prof. Drioli, and explored the role of membranes in supporting the sustainable energy transition.
Through these events, Modelta proudly contributed to raising awareness of membrane science and its transformative potential. We look forward to continuing our involvement in future Membrane Day initiatives.
